About me
I've always been fascinated by how we as humans communicate: how we express ideas and share experiences, and make our inner thoughts understood.
A big part of that fascination is looking at where communication breaks down, and how we use communication itself to fix it.
This led me to study linguistics, the scientific study of language. Linguistics doesn't concern itself with how people should speak a language (that rule about splitting infinitives is bogus!) but rather how people really speak, and what we can learn from that.
This person-centric perspective directly informs my work as a UX designer. Just like how linguists deal with real-world usage of language, I study real, not ideal, user behavior to design more intuitive, accessible, and meaningful experiences.
At its core, my work is about improving communication—between users and interfaces, businesses and audiences, and ultimately, people and the systems they rely on.

Inside a redwood tree!
When not UX designing, I enjoy:
traveling - my longest road trip yet was 800 miles to the Redwoods National Parks.
gardening - I can't stop propagating pothos
propmaking - for many a costume!
video games - currently obsessed with Balatro
learning languages - I'm on my fourth and a half language, Japanese
